HOMESTEADING
We try our hand as much as we can to be homesteaders
instead of having to live out of stores.  We raise a majority
our own chicken, beef, vegetables and supply our own
milk with our goats.  Our whole family is active in the farm
and participates in daily chores and maintenance.
This is our homemade chicken tractor.
It's a mobile pen we use for moving
chickens around our yard to free range
some but without turning them loose to
make messes for the other animals!
One of our many chicken coops for our
daughter's fancy bantam chickens.  We
like to make sure all of our animals have
access to getting outside in the yard
and some shelter.
Grumpy's Garage:  This is where alot of
the brainstorming and creative ideas
are thought up!  As evidenced by the
name, when the door is shut, you do
NOT want to interrupt the creative
process!
Don't you worry....there are
LOTS more photos to come...
Gem is our daughter's registered
Ayrshire heifer.  She got her for a 4-H
project and plan to use her for the family
milk cow.  She won Grand Champ
Ayrshire Heifer and Reserve Grand
Overall Ayrshire at the 2011 Hardin
County Fair!
Meet Curious George &
Corncob.  These are the Jersey
steers that we will be raising up
to help feed our family.
Although sometimes it is
difficult to think about these
animals as dinner, it is better to
know where you food came
from and what was put in it.
